1. Choose the right platforms
With social media, you can
online identity for your business. First, determine where your target audience is and choose the right platforms based on that. LinkedIn is better suited for a business audience, while Instagram and Facebook are more informal. The latest trend, for example, is TikTok. For us as a digital agency, that platform isn’t very interesting, but if you sell children’s clothing, for instance, it’s definitely worth looking into.
2. Decide what you want to share
Quality content is the foundation of any social media strategy. Think of blogs, projects, reviews, news, etc. First, carefully consider who your target audience is. Are they looking for cheerful photos on Instagram? Or would they prefer formal blog posts on LinkedIn? Creating content allows you to express your creativity, and it doesn’t always have to be expensive. As content specialist Saskia de Laat explains in a
article on Frankwatching As mentioned, it’s good to let emotion shine through in your stories—think about adding humor to your posts. Showing your personality is also a great way to approach social media. Show who works there and what goes on at your company. Tips and tricks are another good option: explain things in blog posts and link directly to your newsletter or the products in your online store. Just don’t stray too far from the products or services you offer—it shouldn’t come across as forced.
We’d love to give you a few examples of posts for inspiration. Better to borrow a good idea than come up with a bad one, right? Make the most of them

- Throwback…
Think back to the days when there were far fewer employees and you might have still been working in an old, dusty office. Show off your company’s growth!
3. Find the right hashtags
Using the right hashtags in your posts helps increase your reach. Hashtags are used extensively, especially on Instagram. So go ahead and use plenty of #s, but make sure they’re relevant so that visitors can find what they’re looking for. Before you post, take a quick look around Instagram to see which hashtags are trending right now.
4. Create a content plan
It’s great to have some good ideas up your sleeve. But make sure to plan them out properly! Research which platform best showcases your content. For example, LinkedIn is more effective among business clients, but Instagram performs very well with individual users. Include in your schedule where the post will be published, when it goes live, and what visuals you’ll use. This prevents you from having to rush your posts online and making mistakes in the process. Also, commit to a set number of posts per month. This provides clarity for you as the creator and for your readers.
Bonus tip: Use a tool like Hootsuite to schedule your posts in advance and automate the process.
One more tip: Create a feed design. Use templates for your social media. Especially on a platform like Instagram, an attractive feed is a treat for the eyes. Templates play a key role in this. By sticking to a single style that aligns with your company’s brand identity and tone, your audience will recognize you much more easily.
