How comprehensive is the corporate identity?
A corporate identity can be quite extensive or, conversely, a bit simpler. You may not need envelope or notepad designs for your business at all; you can easily save money by leaving these out of the design process. It’s a good idea to discuss this with your graphic designer, just in case you do end up needing them in the future.
In most cases, this is the basic set of materials you’ll need for your business:

Review rounds?
The number of “revision rounds” (the number of times the design is revised, usually based on feedback from the client) is crucial to how the cost of a corporate identity design is structured. You can save money here, but make sure to be very clear and specific with your graphic designer during the revision rounds you do have. Otherwise, you’ll have to schedule additional rounds later and pay extra for them.
Have your designs printed or do it yourself?
Do you have the graphic designer handle the printing, or do you arrange it yourself? Many people think it’s cheaper to arrange the printing themselves when they’ve hired a graphic designer for their corporate identity. That’s often true, but the markup the graphic designer charges for this is quite minimal. Plus, you’ll be left to deal with any issues if the print goes wrong, whereas otherwise the designer would be responsible for that.
That’s why we recommend having your graphic designer handle the printing. This is definitely a wise choice if you don’t yet have experience with getting designs printed.
Reliability and quality of a graphic designer
Of course, rates vary among graphic designers, which can sometimes make it tempting to hire a student for just a few bucks, so to speak. But have you considered copyright and licensing issues? Or the graphic designer’s professionalism and skills? Or whether the designer will be available if you want them to create more designs with a consistent look and feel?
It’s also important to review your graphic designer’s portfolio to verify whether they deliver high-quality work (in your opinion). This often reflects the designer’s experience and, consequently, how well they can assist you with your project.
Unfortunately, there is still a lot of fraud in this industry. Always verify the company’s details and, for example, give the company a call to confirm that it actually exists.
