A pallet trade where every order was still handled by hand
Pallethandel Den Bosch is a family business in ‘s-Hertogenbosch that buys, sorts, repairs and sells pallets, from euro pallets to block pallets, in new, A and B quality. The company is EPAL certified for trading, sorting and repairing pallets, and it handles hundreds of thousands of pallets a year with tens of thousands in stock. We have worked with them since 2020, first on the brand identity and the website.
That website did its job as a business card and a source of quote requests, but every order still went through a phone call or a quote. Switching on a standard shop plugin was not an option, because the pallet trade has rules of its own: a minimum quantity per product and custom pricing above certain volumes, tiered discounts that differ per regular customer, delivery that depends on region and order size, and part of the range that is only available on request.
Wholesale logic, translated into an ordering flow
On a custom WooCommerce base we turned every business rule into a step a buyer simply walks through. The quote route stayed, but only for what actually needs it: products on request and large volumes hand over to a quote request, everything else runs straight through the shop.
Under the hood the product data is published as structured data, so search engines can read the range and the products are ready for Google Shopping. Each product category got its own text, building on the findability the site already had, and the admin was cleaned up so the team maintains products, prices and stock status themselves.
- Minimum order quantities and automatic tiered discounts, with a cart nudge that says how much more to add for the next step.
- Prices switchable between excluding and including VAT in the header, the way business buyers expect.
- Delivery priced by postal code: free in the region, free above a threshold amount, on request where it is custom work.
- Customer specific prices and payment on account for regular buyers, visible right after logging in.
- One click reordering from the account or from an order confirmation.
A wholesale business runs on repeat orders, so the one click reorder is the part that carries the most weight.
The result
Since the site went live in the summer of 2026, customers can look at pallets, compare them and order directly or request a quote at any hour. Prices show with and without VAT, tiered pricing is on the product pages, delivery cost follows the postal code at checkout, and payment runs through iDEAL, Bancontact and the card methods. Regular buyers log in to their own prices and reorder in a few clicks.
The first orders and quote requests through the shop are in. With the customer portals for regular buyers, the webshop is step by step becoming the central sales channel.
Questions about this project
Yes, with custom work. Standard shop software mostly thinks in unit prices. For Pallethandel Den Bosch we built automatic tiered discounts, a minimum quantity per product and a quote route for large volumes into one ordering flow. The customer just sees a clear price; the logic runs in the background.
Regular buyers get their own account with their own price agreements. After logging in they see those prices right away, they can pay on account and reorder with one click. New customers order at the regular tiered prices or request a quote.
That is exactly when it helps. A hybrid setup catches both flows: standard orders run through the shop by themselves, and anything that needs custom work arrives as a complete quote request. The revenue that can run on its own does, and the personal contact stays where it adds something.
