An Austrian aluminium specialist selling across borders
SAG New Technologies designs and manufactures aluminium fuel tanks and tank systems for the automotive and commercial vehicle industry, from Lend in Austria. The buyers are vehicle manufacturers, vehicle builders and suppliers across Europe, working to strict international standards, and every tank has to be tested and documented before it may go into a vehicle.
A company that sells in that many markets cannot serve them from one language. And a site like that has to carry technical documents, press items and vacancies without turning into a filing cabinet that only the developer can open.
Content types that match what the company publishes
We built the site on WordPress on our own base theme, with content types for the things SAG actually publishes: industries, products and solutions, downloads, press items, cases and vacancies. Translation runs through Weglot, so the same pages exist in English, German, Spanish, Slovak and Dutch instead of five separate sites.
The documentation is the part that would normally go wrong. Downloads are their own content type rather than files parked on a page, which is why the library holds over a hundred documents and is still navigable.
- Five languages on one installation: English, German, Spanish, Slovak and Dutch.
- Industry pages per sector, with products and solutions underneath them.
- A downloads library, currently over 110 documents.
- A careers section with individual vacancies per country and an open application.
- Press, news and case pages the SAG team publishes itself.
Giving downloads and vacancies a content type of their own is what keeps the site editable by SAG rather than by us.
The result
sag.at is live in five languages on one WordPress installation. At the time of writing it holds over 110 downloads, 11 open vacancies and its own case pages, all maintained by SAG.
Technical documents are one library instead of an attachment hunt, and a visitor in Slovakia or Spain reads the same page as a visitor in Austria.
