What is a brand identity design?
As we explain nicely on our website, a brand identity is the design of your overall company look and identity. When a customer visits your site, your brand identity creates a certain first impression. And of course that impression has to be a good one. A strong brand identity design can take care of that.
Our designer will get to work for you!
A brand identity consists of various elements. Think of a logo, a business card, letterhead or a brochure. A brand identity brings together things like typography and color. By choosing an identity that suits you and your company well, you create a strong impression and leave a mark with clients. When you have a unique, modern brand identity, a customer or client is quicker to choose your company.

Why does a brand identity matter?
A strong brand identity creates trust with the customer: it becomes more appealing to do business with your company. A weaker logo can come across as cheap and low quality, and that is not what you want to project as a company. So the logo is an extremely important part of the brand identity: it makes you recognizable. An image often sticks far better than words, so with a good logo you make sure customers remember you: it strengthens your identity as a company. On top of that, it sets you apart from competitors, especially if you choose a design that breaks with the norm.
What should you watch out for in a design?
There are a few things to keep in mind when you design a brand identity or have one designed. By going through all of them, you can be sure you have picked a great identity!
- The design has to suit the target audience
With your company you focus on a specific target audience. If you sell toys, that is a completely different audience than if you sell tailored suits. You have to take that into account in your brand identity design as well. For the logo of a seller of tailored suits it is not smart to use playful lettering if the company wants a refined look.
- The logo combines the client’s wishes with the designer’s own creativity
When a logo is designed for a client, it is of course important to follow their wishes. But the designer’s own creativity pays off too! By taking a slightly different approach than the one you as a client had in mind at first, you may well end up with a better result. As a client, try to stay open to that. It is sometimes wise not to cling to how you pictured it yourself and to be open to other ideas from the graphic designer. Together you will arrive at the perfect logo!
- Combine the right colors, fonts and shapes
You can make a brand identity or logo as simple or as complicated as you like. Go for dark or soft colors, bright or neutral. Typography is extremely important in a strong brand identity or a good logo. Do you go for wide or narrow fonts? Do you want a lot of space between the letters or very little? Will you use certain shapes in the logo? And should those be sharp or flowing? All things to keep in mind when you are looking for a strong brand identity design. Pick a specific color scheme and find fonts through Google Fonts, for example. Colors trigger certain emotions, so you need to make deliberate choices there. Green, for instance, stands for nature and balance, while red brings up feelings of passion and energy. Choose one dominant color and a couple of accent colors. That gives you a nice color scheme. As for fonts, Google Fonts lets you discover different typefaces and work out which one suits your logo best.

Nothing is right or wrong! You simply have to choose a brand identity design and logo that suit your company and your target audience. By discussing those things clearly with your graphic designer, you are sure to end up with a great design!
